Day 24 - 30/11 - Mnyameni - Day 25 & 26 - 01 & 02/12 - Msikada

Extreme-Crew

43 km done to reach the first stop in the Transkei.

On day 24,  Robert paddled for about 7 hours and the conditions were pretty good... He got to see dolphins twice and the first time they stayed with him for quite a while and seemed very interested in that strange man. Robert took some photos of them and I will be able to post them when he has an internet connection next...

Robert had stopped at this exact same place during his previous trip and he recognized it perfectly well. He even set up the tent in the same spot as last time...

I would not push it and say that Robert seemed very relaxed but for sure he seemed very happy to be in the beautiful Transkei again.

He did not catch any fish, so once again he had to eat pemmican for dinner!

On day 25, Robert reached Msikada, 24 km South of Mnyameni. He had stopped there too during his previous trip and had given a fish he had caught to some people there in exchange of sugar and beers. This time he did not get to see anybody...

As he was arriving at Msikada, he decided to do some jigging, ie, fishing with a lure that goes to the bottom of the sea. He caught a small rockcod that was just perfect for his dinner but then decided to keep on jigging, he then caught a bigger rockcod, that he released and then he caught an even bigger one that he decided to keep and to eat that same night...

Robert had a very good landing, straight into the river. He did not have to pull the boat out of the water, he only tied it up onto a big rock, on top of which he put all his equipement and set up his camp next to it. For the first time since the beginning of the trip, he does not have to eat sand with his supper!!!! According to Robert this has been the best day so far!!!!

Robert then decided to take day 26 as a day off, as he was enjoying this place so much. He went diving this morning and caught 2 crayfish for his lunch... I am a bit jealous, my ratatouille suddenly sounds a bit boring... And for his dinner, he fished a shad! Not a bad day really! He also caught a sand shark in the river but obviously that one went free.

Let's hope tomorrow is another good day!

As Robert does not have any access to the internet, I do not have any photos of these past few days but here are a few from the previous days I have not posted yet...
