Today is a resting day as the weather report forecasts "Abnormally large wave conditions in the Agulhas current" from Port Alfred to Kosi Bay, so better safe than sorry and Robert will actually stay on the beach in Richards Bay until Wednesday morning when the weather should improve... The waves are reported to be about 6 m high at the moment. And sadly a surfski race in East London ended tragically, with a paddler lost at sea. Our thoughts are with his family...

The camp Robert has set up is actually quite comfortable as it provides quite a few luxuries... Mainly a shower and a tap about 300 m away...

Also last night, Robert met Jacques who kindly brought him some juice, hard-boiled eggs, bananas, Boere rolls and ribs for today's meals. Jacques also brought a big hammer that will be very useful to fix Robert's rudder. Problems with the rudder seem to be a recurring phenomenon as I recall from the previous trip... And it is a bit of an essential part of the kayak as without it, no landing or getting out to sea is possible.

Robert managed to fix 5 different spots on the kayak, after it hit a same rock 5 times last night!

Robert has also decided that the kayak is too heavy and so he has sorted his belongings and will get rid of about 15 kg of supplies, a lot of which is pemmican as it appears Robert eats only 200 g of it per day instead of the 600 g planned. Also from now on, he will not need to carry as much water as it will be more available.

The paddler who passed away was Mark Feather who was in school with us. Robert will remember him...
